Dr. Bilowus has been using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound to treat prostate cancer patients for many years. He believes in the treatment because of its high success rate and minimal side effects.

Dr. Bilowus graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo and Georgetown University. Upon graduation, he served as Chief of Section of Urology at the Reston Hospital Center. He currently owns and operates a private practice that works with Virginia HIFU and is located in the Reston Hospital Center. Dr. Bilowus has earned international recognition for his work in urology and with HIFU specifically. He has also been published several times in journals like the Journal of Urology.

Dr. Bilowus served his internship in Urology at the State University of New York School of Medicine in Buffalo. When he finished his internship, he went on for postgraduate training in General Surgery at the Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, New York. He also pursued Pediatric Urology training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, England, and Adult and Pediatric Urology at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC.

When his training was complete in 1990, Dr. Bilowus was certified by the American Board of Urology, becoming recertified in 1997 and 2008. Other memberships Dr. Bilowus holds include membership with the American Cancer Association, American Medical Association, Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, Southern Medical Association, Virginia State medical Society, Fairfax County Medical Society, Southern Medical Association, Virginia Urological Society, Washington Urological Society, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He is affiliated with the Inova Fairfax Hospital, Potomac Hospital, Reston Hospital Center, and Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

In order to maintain his expertise in the field, Dr. Bilowus continually pursues further training and education. He recently attended training on Cryotherapy, HIFU, Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy Therapy, and the Medtronic Prostiva System.

Dr. Bilowus resides in Reston, Virginia, with his wife and their three children. When not working or learning about innovative treatments for his patients, Dr. Bilowus enjoys outdoor sports like skiing, tennis, and fishing. He speaks fluent Spanish.

Dr. Bilowus and his medical team strive to provide the highest level of care with innovative treatments in a professional, friendly environment that maintains a personal touch.
